Old and spectacular Shidare Sakura in Kyoto

Quite a few very old and famous sakura cherry trees are scattered around Japan. To see them in full bloom, loaded with flowers, is an unforgettable experience, but most of them are located in quite remote locations.

However, a spectacularly beautiful old sakura is located right in the center of Kyoto, inside the Maruyama Park. It is a species of sakura called shidare, "weeping cherry tree". With an age of 87 years, it is a breathtaking tree that draws million of people every year...
