One of the best regions in Japan for sake brewing is Fushimi, in Kyoto, a place renowned for its high quality spring water. Fushimi is also easily accessible, just ten minutes by train from Kyoto Station, and it is worth a visit if you want to see a traditional sake brewery, called saka-gura in Japanese.

Several streets are well preserved, and the old Kizakura Sake Brewery was transformed into an interesting museum where, of course, you can also sample the local sake production...
