Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Old Hina Matsuri dolls

Sun, March 3, 2019, by Muza-chan
The Hina Matsuri doll sets are sophisticated and expensive works of art, many of them priced from several hundred thousands to over a million yen.

There is a custom in Japan to offer a gift of Hina dolls on the first Hina Matsuri of a baby girl, set which is added to the ones passed in the family from generation to generation. Photographed here is an old set of exquisite Hina dolls, displayed at the Aoyagi Samurai House in Kakunodate, Akita.
