Shimbashi Station was the terminal of the first railway in Japan, the Tōkaidō Main Line, connecting Tokyo and Yokohama. Inaugurated in 1872, the building was destroyed by the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923, but in 2003 was reconstructed in its original form, very close to its initial location.

Of course, the landscape looks a lot different today, and I love the contrast between the old style structure and the Shiodome Sio-Site skyscrapers in the background...
