About 10 years ago, a company from Sendai called Sendaimeiban had the idea to make a new kind of roadside barriers, shaped like cute animals such as dolphins, frogs or giraffes.

On a recent visit to Kyoto I discovered a new trend, the cute roadside barriers are now representing manga/anime characters, such as Monkey D. Luffy from the weel known series One Piece...
