Looking at the many skyscrapers surrounding the Osaka Station, in the district called Umeda ("plum field"), it is hard to imagine that a century ago this was a rural area. The development begun with the construction of the Osaka train station, in 1874. Today, as you can see in this photo, this is the neighborhood with the highest density of skyscrapers in Osaka...
