Osu Shopping district

During the Edo period, many shopping districts were formed around an important temple or shrine, because they were attracting pilgrims.

That's what happened in Nagoya after the Ōsu Kannon temple was built in 1612, next to the temple appeared a commercial area that survived until today. The Ōsu shopping district is now a place that worth a visit, not only for its shops but also for the picturesque decorations.
