Ozu Castle reconstruction project

The best reconstructed castle I have visited so far is the Ōzu castle, in the Ehime Prefecture, Shikoku. The tenshu main tower of the castle was demolished at the beginning of the Meiji Period, but 4 yagura turrets remained standing.

The castle's reconstruction was finalized in 2004, yet only traditional methods and materials were used during the entire project. Inside, the castles looks and feels amazing, and since two of the original yagura and the reconstructed tenshu are connected by a corridor, only the age of the wood reveals which construction is original and which was rebuilt...
