Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Rikugi-en, typical example of Edo period Japanese garden

Fri, November 20, 2015, by Muza-chan
Built more than 200 years ago by Yanagisawa Yoshiyasu, a high-ranking official in the Tokugawa shogunate, the Rikugi-en garden is one of the few remaining Edo period gardens in Tokyo. Rikugi-en was restored in 1878 by Iwasaki Yatarō, the founder of Mitsubishi, and was donated in 1938 to the City of Tokyo, being declared tokubetsu meisho, special place of scenic beauty.

It is a garden that looks great in every season, and I always return with great pleasure. Here it is, photographed in the autumn's beautiful colors...

Rikugi-en, Bunkyo, Tokyo
