Roofs and Pagoda at Kiyomizu-dera, Kyoto

Drastic laws limiting the height of buildings managed to protect the historical areas of Kyoto, and the entire city landscape. Here's a photo taken in Higashiyama, with the pagoda of Kiyomizu-dera still towering over the surrounding roofs, a landscape not much changed from how it should have looked 400 years ago, when it was rebuilt last time.
