Saitama Railway Museum

The first Railway Museum in Tokyo was opened in 1921, at Tokyo Station, with the occasion of 50 years anniversary since the beginning of railways in Japan. In 1936 the museum was moved to Chiyoda, in the Manseibashi Station, and although the station was demolished in 1943, the museum remained until 2006.

Then, with the 20 years anniversary of JR East, the exhibits were moved to the new and spectacular Railway Museum (Tetsudō Hakubutsukan) in Ōmiya, Saitama. Today, Tetsudō Hakubutsukan is one of the 3 major railway museums in Japan, together with the SCMaglev and Railway Park museum in Nagoya and the Kyoto Railway Museum.
