Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Sampuru

Sun, September 26, 2010, by Muza-chan
It looks delicious, although it's wrapped in plastic foil... Yes, it's not food, it's sampuru, Japanese food plastic replicas, displayed at the Japanese restaurants.
Sampuru are handmade, carefully sculpted, amazingly painted and customized for each restaurant to look exactly like the real dish!

I took this picture on Kappabashi-dori, at one of the sampuru shops. Besides the custom made items, you can also buy small souvenirs, beer glasses or sushi fridge magnets.
What did I bought? Shrimp sashimi...
