Samurai neighborhood, Nagamachi, Kanazawa

Up until the Meiji Restoration, Nagamachi was a residential area for the samurai of Kaga. Today, only several buildings are still original (like the Nomura family house), however, the neighborhood managed to preserve its old architecture, with narrow streets flanked by thick mud walls and massive wooden gates. A place that deserves a visit, for a glimpse of the Edo Period life...
