There can be several types of gardens around and inside a traditional Japanese house: the main garden, on the back of the house, that can be admired from the engawa, a small interior garden called tsubo-niwa, and a front side garden, like the one in today's photo, photographed at the Orii Samurai Residence, in Takahashi, Okayama.

It includes a carefully shaped tree, several trimmed bushes, a few rocks, a stepping stones path and a stone lantern...
