Sendai Zuihoden Mausoleum
Constructed to be the resting place of the Sendai lord Date Masamune, Zuihoden is a lavishly ornate mausoleum, declared Natonal Treasure in 1931. Unfortunately, it was burned by the bombings at the end of WWII, but it was rebuilt in 1979 and repainted in 2001, so today it looks in its entire original splendor. Inside there's a wooden statue representing Date, opened to the public on special occasions.
