Commercial areas with buildings from the 80's or 90's, with facades completely covered by bright billboards are amongst the Tokyo's distinguishing marks. These places have their own charm, no matter their location, be it in central Tokyo like Ueno, Shinjuku, Takadanobaba or towards the city border, like Katsushika.

For me, streets like the one in this photo (located near the West Exit of Shinjuku Station) are creating a very nice, optimistic state of mind, especially after sunset, when the lights are turning on...
