Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Shinkansen Tsubame, Japanese style train interior

Mon, February 2, 2015, by Muza-chan
The Japanese high-speed trains are generally renowned for their interior comfort. Still, among all the Shinkansen services, there is one that stands out due to its Japanese style interior design. That's the 800 Series, operated by the JR Kyushu Railway on the Tsubame (つばめ) service connecting Kagoshima-Chūō and Hakata.

Each of the cars was decorated with a unique, traditionally-inspired pattern, by using authentic materials. Here's one of the 800 Series cars, my favorite so far, with seats covered by traditional ivy-leaf pattern Nishijin brocade, with wooden armrests, and what impressed me most, with the windows blinds made of finely cherry-wood.

Scroll down for a more detailed photo with the seat and the window blinds.
