Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Shinsekai, the old New World district of Osaka

Wed, February 25, 2015, by Muza-chan
One hundred years ago, the Osaka neighborhood located around the Tsutenkaku Tower was among the most in vogue entertainment areas in Japan. Designed based on two famous cities, Paris and New York, the neighborhood was boldly named Shinsekai, which means "New World".

After a period of neglect during the middle of the 20th century, in recent years the area flourished again, and now it is one of the most colorful places in Osaka. For tourists, it makes for a nice place to visit and to sample the local kushikatsu and fugu restaurants...
