Shopping in Kyoto, Higashiyama

There are many interesting places to visit in Kyoto, especially the old shrines and temples, each with its specific beauty. But unlike the other big cities, the "modern" part of Kyoto is quite bland and few places caught my attention...

What really caught my eye is, of course, the old part of the city... a good example is the area with wooden buildings, traditional shops and narrow streets nearby Kiyomizudera Temple, in the Higashiyama District. It's a lovely and colorful place, one of the best places in Kyoto to shop for omiyage and souvenirs or to try a tea and a traditional menu. Just like in the old Kyoto...
