Sun, August 13, 2017, by Muza-chan
Edo castle, the symbol of the power of the shogun Tokugawa, was built in 1607 and lasted for exactly 50 years, being destroyed by a large fire that destroyed more than half of the city, the Great fire of Meireki.

It was the tallest castle in Japan, with a 51 meters tall, five-story tower, having o base of 41 per 45 meters. The castle tower was never rebuilt, but its stone foundation survived until today, being now part of the Imperial Palace East Gardens.
