Studio Alta, a wide-angle street view

The shopping district near the Shinjuku Station East Exit is one of the few areas in Tokyo without any old or traditional buildings, because the area was heavily bombed at the end of WWII. This is one of those colorful places I enjoy a lot, with many narrow buildings...

The street is dominated by Studio Alta, an 8-story building that became famous 20 years ago because of its huge TV screen, which at the time, was a symbol of the Japanese electronics success. Today, the screen is no longer impressive, but the building is still famous, housing a notorious TV studio which produces Waratte Iitomo, a Japanese variety show running continuously since 1982...
