Tahoto pagoda at Gokoku-ji
In the past, the 2-storied wooden pagoda called tahoto was one of the seven halls of a Shingon temple. The oldest tahoto is today the one at the Ishiyama-dera in Ōtsu, Shiga Prefecture, erected in 1194. A replica of this pagoda can also be admired in Tokyo, at the Gokoku-ji temple, built 80 years ago.
