Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

The North gate of the lost Hagi Castle

Fri, July 31, 2015, by Muza-chan
The Hagi Castle was built by the lord Mōri Terumoto after the Battle of Sekigahara, and its entire history was without any military conflicts. Like many other Japanese castles, it was demolished after the Meiji Restoration, and it was never rebuilt.

However, its Main North Gate (Kita no Somon) was reconstructed ten years ago, and it stands today as the most beautiful entrance to the old Hagi jōkamachi, one of the best preserved castle towns in Japan.
