Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

The oldest Koban in Tokyo

Fri, June 7, 2019, by Muza-chan
The first small neighborhood police stations (kōban) appeared in Japan around 1880, but none of them survived until today.

The oldest kōban in Tokyo, built in 1921, is on the Nishi Naka Dori street on the Tsukishima Island. The small construction was protected when the rebuilding plans were drawn, and sice it remained on its original position, today it occupies a small part of the street.
