Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Tiger of the Kokura castle

Wed, July 11, 2018, by Muza-chan
The pair of paintings representing tigers displayed in the Kokura castle are creations of the artist Sato Koetsu. They are renowned for an interesting feature: if you look at the tiger's forehead, from any angle, you will get the impression that the tiger is looking right back at you.
