The original paintings which were saved from the fire that destroyed the palace were studied so that the new paintings are imitating the originals as closely as possible. Photographed here are the sliding screens of the Ichi-no-ma, the "Primary waiting room". The paintings in this room are representing bamboo groves and tigers, motifs selected by the shogun itself to impress visitors.
