The Shinto festivals with Mikoshi parades are thousands of years old, and are taking place everywhere in Japan. And to continue the tradition, in many places the children are taking part in the festival, participating with a mikoshi made especially for them, like in this photo taken at the Fukagawa Hachiman Water-throwing festival in Tokyo.
