Erected in 1886 at the beginning of the Meiji period, the Ishikawajima Lighthouse was built by Shimizu Junki, a magistrate of what was then the house of correction from Ishikawajima, to provide light for the vessels sailing up the Sumida river.
Today, the lighthouse is almost lost among the many other constructions, but it retains the charm of its past:
