Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Tokyo Takeshita-dori, the story of a name

Mon, June 22, 2015, by Muza-chan
The Takeshita street is today one of the most important fashion venues in Tokyo, but its name has more to do with history than clothing... Actually, the street was named after the Takeshita family, whose house was located here.

The Takeshita family became famous through their adopted son, Takeshita Isamu, who before adoption was the son of a samurai class family in Kagoshima, and later became diplomat and admiral of the Imperial Japanese Navy.
