At the end of the next year, the iconic Tokyo Tower will be 60 years old, and the anniversary prompts for a large-scale overhaul. The Special Observatory (the one at 250 meters height) is already closed for renovation, together with the elevator that connects it with the Main Observatory. The tower will be completely repainted as well, and the works are estimated to be completed in the summer of 2017.
