Tsutenkaku Tower

In 1912 when it was built, the Tsutenkaku tower from Osaka was the tallest tower in Asia (64 meters), immediately becoming the symbol of Osaka. But the fame didn't last long and after only 31 years it was badly damaged in a fire and was disassembled.

After the war, in 1956, a new Tsutenkaku tower was built, taller than the first one (103 meters) and with an original design by Tachū Naitō, the same architect who later designed the iconic Tokyo Tower.
