If you want to experience the real life of the Japanese people, I strongly recommend you to try eating at an open air food stall (yatai in Japanese), like the ones photographed here in Fukuoka, in the Tenjin area, on the Nakasu Island. These food stalls are actually so famous that they are one of the city's symbols: they are opened all the year around, usually in the evening, during winter being heated with electric radiators and protected with a plastic curtain. The delicious smell is irresistible, tempting you to try the local ramen, or yakitori, or oden... yummy!
