Yatsuhashi and Soribashi, two types of Japanese traditional bridges

The designer of the Fujita Kinen Teien (Fujita Memorial Garden) in Hirosaki used a beautiful combination of closely located traditional bridges, as you can see in today's photo.

The bridge on the left is a wooden soribashi "arched bridge", made to harmonize with the surrounding nature without standing out. On the right is a style of bridge providing an opposite effect: it's a yatsuhashi (meaning "eight bridges") type that immediately draws attention to its eight wooden boards placed in zigzag.
