Yokocho narrow alley in Namba

There are not many countries in the world where you would be tempted to adventure on a narrow street... But in Japan, exploring the narrow alleys is part of the charm of the old-style commercial venues.

Called yokochō (meaning "side alley"), they are often lined by small izakaya, bars and pubs, as you can see in this photo taken in the popular entertainment district of Namba, Osaka.
