Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Yokozuna Restaurant Namba

Mon, February 29, 2016, by Muza-chan
Many restaurants in the Dotonbori area in Osaka are drawing the visitors' attention with giant and vivid colored billboards and signs, but the building photographed here manages to stand out with a very interesting design.

Built at a crossroad, the construction is covered by wooden plaques and embellished by chochin lanterns, while some of the walls are reproducing portraits of famous sumo wrestlers and banzuke sumo rankings. In front, above the entrance, a statue of Billiken standing in a sumo posture welcomes the visitors of this restaurant, aptly named... "Yokozuna".
