Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Yosakoi Dance Festival

Sat, August 13, 2016, by Muza-chan
These days in Kochi takes place a festival that first began 63 years ago and quickly became popular not only in Japan but throughout the entire world. The dance combines elements of traditional Japanese dances (such as Bon Odori) with free-style modern dance elements. Each team presents its own dance, and the costumes are also unique.

If you would like to see the Yosakoi dance but you're unable to visit Kochi at the beginning of August, you can also enjoy its Tokyo version, that takes place in autumn. I took this photo at the end of October, at the Dream Yosakoi Festival in Odaiba, Tokyo.
