The second tallest statue in Japan, Sendai Dai-Kannon

Thu, August 13, 2015, by Muza-chan

Kannon, one of the most beloved deities in Japan, is in the Buddhist tradition the Bodhisattva of Compassion. Many Kannon statues, with various art representations were erected during the last 30 years, and the most impressive of them is, by far, the Sendai Dai-Kannon.

With a height of 100 meters, this is the tallest Kannon, and at the same time the second tallest statue in Japan, surpassed only by the amazing 120-meters-tall Ushiku Daibutsu.
