Spectacular Japanese gardens, Himeji Koko-en

Although it was built not long time ago, in 1992, the Himeji Koko-en deserves a place among the most representative gardens in Japan. Actually, it is a complex of 9 different gardens, planned to illustrate the essence of the Edo period garden design.

The Koko-en can be easily visited, being located nearby the Himeji Castle, on the place of the former lord’s west residence. Its location also inspired the name of the largest and most impressive part, Oyasiki-no-niwa, the “garden of the lord’s house", photographed here…
