There are over 32000 shrines dedicated to Inari, the Japanese kami of fertility, rice, agriculture and industry. The head shrine of all of them, and the most spectacular, is located in Kyoto: the Fushimi Inari Taisha.
Since the old times, in order to achieve success in business or to give thanks for the success, people used to donate torii to the Inari shrines. That’s why you can see in Japan shrines with dozens of torii… but at Fushimi Inari Taisha there are thousands of them (Senbon Torii).
From the entrance to the main building there are two parallel corridors made of torii placed close to each other, over a distance greater than 200 meters!
Walking under all these torii is an unforgettable experience!
