Today marks the anniversary of 311 years since the 47 samurai from Ako avenged their master, becoming the very symbol of loyalty and justice.
I visited many times the tombs of the 47 ronin at Sengaku-ji, Tokyo, and every time I found them beautified with fresh flowers and replenished with fresh incense. And every year on this day, December 14th, the small graveyard becomes the main stage of the festival held to commemorate their story of honor and loyalty.
