Akihabara Maids Costume Parade
The first maid cafe (メイドカフェ, Meido kafe), the coffee shop with waitresses dressed-up as maids, appeared in Akihabara in 2001.
In time, they became one of the main attractions of Akihabara and it’s almost impossible for me to imagine Akihabara without them… They lighten up the streets with cheerful voices and pretty costumes. And speaking of uniforms, I photographed them, but I haven’t realized the large variety of costumes until I saw them lined up at the Akihabara Uchimizu:
