Happy Birthday! Hello Kitty turns 40

Sat, November 1, 2014, by Muza-chan

40 years ago, the company Sanrio launched a vinyl coin purse featuring a drawing of one of the cutest and most loved characters ever invented, Hello Kitty. By then, it didn’t even had a name (it was called “the white kitten with no name")…

But soon afterwards, Hello Kitty gained so much fame that it received a full character design and description, and we now know that her blood type is A (the Japanese love to know the blood type) and her measures are taken in… apples: the height is about 5 apples and she weights 3 apples. Her favorite color is red, favorite food is “mama’s homemade apple pie” and her hobbies are baking cookies and pancakes, origami, foreign cultures, piano and tennis…

And we also know from her profile that Hello Kitty’s birthday is November 1st, so I think that we can say that today Hello Kitty turns 40…

Happy Birthday, Hello Kitty!

And to mark this moment, here’s a photo with my favorite “Hello Kitty 40th anniversary” decoration, displayed in front of the Mikimoto flagship store in Ginza, Tokyo:
