After a period of great success between 1970 and 2000, the arcade games are currently losing popularity. However, their decline in Japan is not as visible as in the Western countries, arcade gaming is still a multi-billion dollar industry and large amusement arcades can be found everywhere in Japan.
I was always attracted by these joyful halls, filled with roars of laughter and loud music, and even if I’m not a gamer, I enjoy visiting them from time to time. Photographed here is Taiko no Tatsujin, an arcade machine that simulates a Taiko drum, and I remember being fascinated by the skills of the young player…
