Japanese Gardens Attractions, Yuishinzan Hill from Korakuen

The Korakuen garden from Okayama, one of the three most beautiful gardens in Japan, was inaugurated in 1700 by Ikeda Tsunamasa (lord of Okayama) and since then it was preserved in the original form, with just a few modifications.
Actually, the most important change was made by Tsunamasa’s son, Ikeda Tsugumasa, who built the Yuishinzan Hill (in the photo).

The hill, covered with grass and dotted by decorative rocks, azaleas and rhododendrons, was a big improvement, creating a more dynamic landscape and at the same time offering a broad view of the surrounding garden.

Beautiful Shot of this great Japanese garden. Have you visited many and got more shots like this? I lived in Nara for awhile, so many beautiful places to explore in Japan.

While it is beautiful indeed (same thing goes for your picture), the Korakuen is not "one of the three most beautiful gardens" in Japan. It's a common misconception, but it is actually one of the "three great gardens" which is a semi-official title, like the "three views of Japan" and other similar titles that exist in the country.

I'm lucky enough to have visited all three. Korakuen garden in Okayama was nice but my favourite has been Kenrokuen in Kanazawa.
