Yozakura is the Japanese tradition of admiring blooming cherry trees with night illumination, and it is a lot older than electric lighting… In the old times, it was done with wood burning and traditional lanterns.
Today, the best sakura trees have especially designed illuminations, a beautiful example being the Gion Shidare Sakura in the Maruyama park, Kyoto.
