Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Himeji Koko-en garden, the story of a name

Tue, January 13, 2015, by Muza-chan
Established in 1992, the Himeji Koko-en is an amazing complex of 9 Japanese traditional gardens, located close to the famous Himeji Castle.

But although the complex was built relatively recently, the design style and the name are dating back to the Edo Period. Exactly 300 years before the garden was established, the location was occupied by a han school called Koko-do, build the lord of Himeji, Sakai Tadataka.
