Japanese superlatives, the oldest TV tower in Japan

Built in 1954, the tower from the photo was the first TV tower in Japan. By then, Nagoya was in full reconstruction after the war, without any taller buildings, so the 180 meters-tall tower was visible from afar. An interesting fact is that this was the first tower designed by Tachū Naitō, 4 years before he designed the world-famous Tokyo Tower.

Today, Nagoya downtown is one of the most modern city-centers in Japan, with skyscrapers like the JR Central Towers, Mode Gakuen Spiral Towers or Midland Square, but the old TV tower still has its fans: it's still a venue for weddings or just for sightseeing...
