Kyoto International Conference Center

One of the most profound and daring architectural styles of the 20th century, the Metabolism appeared during the 60s in Japan. Today it is almost gone, but there are a few remarkable buildings, which hopefully will remain for many decades. The most famous is certainly the Nakagin Capsule Tower, but if you visit Tokyo you will be able to also admire the Shizuoka Press and Broadcasting Center or the Edo-Tokyo Museum.

In Kyoto, well known because of a couple of movies, Sydney Pollack's "Yakuza" (with Robert Mitchum and Ken Takakura) and John Frankenheimer's "The Challenge" (with Scott Glenn and Toshirō Mifune), the Kyoto International Conference Center is one of the masterpieces of the Metabolist style.
