Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Narita-san Wheel Repository

Thu, June 7, 2018, by Muza-chan
The beautiful building on the left of today's photo is a rare construction in Japan. Called the "Wheel Repository", it is housing a revolving repository called rinzō (see photo), an octagonal prism with a central pillar filled with over 2000 volumes of Buddhist scriptures. The rinzō is similar to the Tibetan prayer wheels, so there is a custom to rotate it while saying a prayer.
