Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Only in Nara

Thu, May 17, 2012, by Muza-chan
Rickshaws are definitely a traditional tourist attraction in Japan... but today you can experience rickshaws in many other cities of the world. The wild shika deer are a major attraction in Nara, but then again, you can enjoy wild deer in other places too (e.g. Miyajima)...

However, a scene like the one in this photo can be seen (and enjoyed) only in Nara! Unlike Miyajima, where the deer are located only on the strictly controlled island, grouped around shrines or on small backstreets, in Nara the deer are roaming freely on regular, sometimes even crowded streets.
Nara is at the same time a modern city, and I think the way they managed to blend wildlife in the city's life is wonderful...
